About

Hey there!  My name's Aaron.  I am a first year master's student at the University of Tennessee.  I am currently studying communication studies, focusing on intercultural communication, with an emphasis in interracial communication.  I was drawn to studying interracial communication by way of a class that I took my senior year of undergrad.  I find racial dynamics in the US to be fascinating and complex.  Because of that complexity, I want to know more about race in the US.  My particular interest is in racial identity development, more specifically, how various racial groups within the US develop positive, healthy identities.  My latest research focuses on White identity and how being White in the US is more of a socioeconomic status than it is a racial descriptor.

In my spare time, I like to read, sing and write my own music, write, and dabble in any artistic/creative endeavor I can get my hands on.  As of late, I tend to do more graphic design and have been learning the process of basic web design.  I also love photos.  While it is a rather trite and overused phrase, I find it to be true that a picture is worth a thousand words, or rather, that there are a great many stories that be told through visual media.  Lately, I've been itching to try my hand at it.

In any case, this site is where you can keep up with what is going on in my life, as well read my random ramblings.  Happy reading!

Aaron
